By Car

If you’re reaching us by car, follow the A19, taking the A1058 (Coast Road) signposted to Tynemouth. Then follow signs towards Tynemouth Seafront.

If you’re using your Sat-Nav, here’s our address:

Tynemouth Aquarium
Grand Parade
Tynemouth
Tyne & Wear
NE30 4JF

To see our exact location, you can find us on Google Maps.

Please be aware that both the car parks surrounding the aquarium are owned and operated by North Tyneside Council. Please see signage for tariffs and payment options.

Public Transport

If you’re catching the Metro, get off at the Cullercoats stop and it’s just a short 10-minute walk along the seafront to the aquarium.

If you’re catching the bus:

Tynemouth Aquarium is just a short walk from two key bus stops on Grand Parade, near the Tynemouth Surf Café – only 0.2 miles away (about a 4-minute walk).

  • The Coaster 1 bus runs from the Metro Centre in Gateshead via Newcastle to Whitley Bay.

  • The 306 bus runs directly from Newcastle to Whitley Bay.

Both services stop right by the seafront, making it a breeze to reach us.

If you’re travelling on the 308 bus from Blyth to Newcastle, hop off at either Whitley Bay or Tynemouth Morrisons and switch to a Coaster 1, 306, or the Metro to complete your journey. If you fancy a stroll, it’s around 1.4 miles or a 30-minute walk.

The 9 bus from Sunderland to Newcastle also connects easily with Coaster 1, 306, or the Metro to bring you the rest of the way to the coast.

Travelling from Outside the Local Area?
Not a problem – we’re well-connected!

  • From Middlesbrough (X10), Durham (X21 or Train), or even Carlisle (685), you can travel into Newcastle and then hop onto the Coaster 1, 306, or Metro for a smooth trip to the seaside.
