The Aquarium recently refurbished a number of exhibits, facilities and has a brand new restaurant called ‘Bay and Laurel’ – now open to everyone whether or not they are visiting the Aquarium.

Sharon Hedley, General Manager at Tynemouth Aquarium spoke about reopening.

She said: “From site refurbishments and launching the new restaurant, all then followed by 3-months of closure and new safety measures it has been an incredibly busy time for us.

“Additionally, we would like to thank visitors and members for their ongoing support and I would personally like to give the team a huge shout out – they’ve all been fantastic!” Sharon added.

There have been so many changes at Tynemouth Aquarium; before visiting customers can expect strict Covid-19 safety measures in place. This is alongside the refurbishments including a new River Giants exhibit home to huge fresh water species.

Visitors will be asked to read a charter before entering, outlining the site’s updated safety measures. This allows visitors can observe social distancing. Please click here for full details of our new safety measures.
