Sun, Sea, and Seals: Heatwave to Heart-warming Fundraiser!

This half-term, as a heatwave swept across the UK, one young girl visiting from Oxford seized the opportunity to make a splash in her own way. With the sun shining brightly and a passion for helping animals in need, she set up a lemonade stall in her neighbourhood – but her goal was bigger than just quenching thirsts. She aimed to raise money for Tynemouth Seal Hospital, a place close to her heart and her love for the North East’s incredible marine life! Each cup of lemonade cost £1, and all funds raised were dropped off to us as direct contributions.

Stella frequently visits family in Tynemouth and always makes a beeline for her favourite spot – Tynemouth Aquarium. Here, she’s captivated by the playful seals and their incredible show. “I love watching the seals,” she says with a bright smile. “I always bring my friends here to see them too!”. During her many visits, she has learned about the work undertaken by the Seal Hospital, and on the hottest day of the year so far, whilst everyone else took to relaxing on the beach for the bank holiday, Stella chose to put the needs of sick and injured seals first!

The money she raised will help our volunteer-ran Hospital massively, from providing essential pen maintenance and life-saving medicines, to ensuring the seals are well-fed and strong enough for their journey back to the wild (and boy, they can eat!). The Hospital has set up this Wishlist of items in need.

We hope Stella’s initiative will inspire many in our community; her story shows how small actions can make a big difference. Whether it’s hosting a lemonade stand, organising a bake sale, or simply spreading the word, everyone can help support the incredible work here at Tynemouth Seal Hospital.

Thank you for supporting Tynemouth Seal Hospital – together, we can make waves of change for our incredible marine friends!
